Plastic surgery is an individual's choice, it's mean to say stuff about people having plastic surgery, they obviously chose to have it done for a reason, to make them feel better. So you shouldn't criticise people on what they look like or their choice to have plastic surgery. The inside is what counts...
People should be satisfied with what they've got ... it's really really stupid to have surgery done when you don't need it. People shouldn't be so vain. I don't agree with Anna, Cardiff
I think plastic surgery is okay, plastic surgery is for burns and scars. Cosmetic surgery is where people use surgery to improve how they look which I think is wrong.
It's a waste of money to have plastic surgery. Unless you've had really bad damage done to yourself, then it is silly and unnecessary.
It's alright for people who are happy with their looks to judge people who aren't. I think that if they are really unhappy, people should be allowed to have plastic surgery.
I think it should not be forgotten that plastic surgery can give accident victims their lives back
People are hypocritical when they say 'don't judge a book by its cover' because people DO judge people by what they look like. That's why people feel they need to have surgery. They want to be perfect in the eyes of themselves and everybody else. But no one will ever be perfect
I agree with legal plastic surgery because if you're really getting yourself down about the way you look then you should be able to make yourself feel better. It's only like getting your hair or nails done for vanity.
I think that plastic surgery is a matter of opinion. Personally I feel that if you want it and can afford to have it legally then there is nothing wrong with it. The media and celebs have a lot of influence on today's teenagers/adults. And so do TV programmes
I think if something about your body is affecting you and there is something that could be done about it then you should be able to have plastic surgery!
From an internet article:
For Jenna Franklin, who made the headlines when she asked for a boob* job for her 16th birthday, cosmetic surgery was all about self-esteem. 'I just want to be happy with my body and I think having my breasts enlarged will give me more self-confidence,' she said. Jenna's not alone, low self-esteem is the reason most people give for going under the knife – including celebs, who are under more pressure than anyone to look good.
*Boob: pechos
From a BBC survey:
By the time they are 16, three-quarters of young girls say they do not like their appearance.
A BBC Radio 1 survey into how young Britons feel about their bodies found that more than 50% of female respondents said they would consider having plastic surgery.
Cosmetic surgery should be performed on the basis of need, not want.
Cosmetic surgery is a bit of a lottery
I am unhappy with the way I look but I am fixing myself through exercise and eating healthy and I will not go as far as liposuction or any other means of unnatural weight reduction
I think it's sad that people think that they have to have plastic surgery because of the 'perfect body' or 'perfect look'
I tkink that we live in a world in wich beauty is very important. For this reason some people want to be good-looking and they agree wiht plastic surgery. For me the inside should be more important than the outside
I believe that, plastic surgery is one form to do that one person that doesn´t feel good with her/his body could be happier but at the same time I don´t agree because each person should be happy with the appearance which he/she was born with.
I think that plastic surgery is somthing that people can make when they are differings with thear bodies.I'm not against but nowadays I wouldn't go through any plastic surgery.
I´m against plastic surgery because nobody is perfect. there is things more important than beauty but people have got much dung in theirs head. However I like boobs of sharkito they are very pretty.
I know many people that are very unhappy with their body. In my opinion if you are unhappy because of your body, you will be able to use plastic surgery for his/her conform.
We think that the plastic surgery is a form to change somethink of your body, everybody that are against to plastic surgery is because they don´t need a radical change. In conclusion we believe that is a solution to people who aren`t happy with their bodys.
Thanks everybody for your contributions, but now I have to let my pupils know what the results of their interpretations of the opinions were.
Most of you got 9/11 right out of 17/19. What's my conclusion? You have to read more and more in order to improve your reading comprehension. If you don't, you will have a lot of problems to understand exactly what the authors of PAU texts want to express. And let me tell you just one thing: these were not long difficult texts but 25-word opinions...
You have to get used to realize which the key words in every reading are.
Your own opinions:
Keila. OK.
Regina. Do not use a comma before the direct object (I believe that plastic surgery...).
From my point of view - and this is my opinion, not a correction - your sentence is too long. Besides, you like using the politically correct "his/her, she/he, him/her". These two features make you writing more difficult to be read.
Crys. You got complicated: "when they are differings with thear bodies". Why don't you use an easier sentence like "when they don't like their bodies"? The simpler, the better.
Pedro Travolta. "there ARE (NOT is) things more important than beauty" ThingS=plural. "In their (NOT -s) heads" Possessive adjectives don't take the plural -s
Lorena. OK but I wouln't use future tense for the last sentence but present "you can use..." I don't get what you mean by "conform".
Henrik-e and Pol. "THE plastic surgery"? Are you referring to a specific plastic surgery or are you writing in general? "everybody that IS (NOT "are") against (NOT "to") plastic surgery IS BEACUSE (ask the teacher) they don´t need a radical change. In conclusion we believe that IT (no subject?) is a solution for (to) people who aren`t happy with their bodIEs (NOT "bodys").
"Everybody (singular) IS (NOT "are")
